Privacy Policy — زاد الآخرة (Zad al-Akhira)

Last updated: 26 September 2026

زاد الآخرة is an athkar and prayer-times app. It is built to need as little of your information as possible, and it has no accounts.

The short version

What stays on your device

Everything you record — your athkar counts, which prayers you have marked, your history, streaks, chosen colours, language and settings — is stored only on your phone. It is never uploaded, never backed up to us, and never shared. The one exception is the optional leaderboard described below, which receives a single number per day and nothing about what you actually did.

Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

Location

If you grant location permission, the app uses your position to work out prayer times, the Hijri date, and your city name.

Your coordinates are sent to Aladhan (api.aladhan.com), a third-party prayer-times service, over an encrypted connection. They are used to compute times for your area and are not sent anywhere else. The location fix itself and the city-name lookup are handled by your phone's platform services — Google Play Services on Android, Apple location services on iOS.

Your most recent coordinates are cached on your device so prayer times can be shown immediately at launch.

Location is optional. Decline it and the app works normally — you simply will not see prayer times, the countdown, or your city.

Voice counting (microphone)

The dhikr counters can count what you say aloud. If you turn this on and grant microphone permission, your speech is converted to text by your phone's built-in speech recognition — Google's speech service on Android, Apple's on iOS — and the app only receives the recognised words, which it compares with the dhikr to add to your count.

The app itself never records, stores, or uploads audio, and it keeps no transcript beyond the moment of counting. Depending on your phone and language settings, the platform's speech service may process audio on its servers under Google's or Apple's privacy policy, linked above.

The microphone is only active while the counter's microphone button is switched on, and it turns off when you leave the counter, put the app in the background, or after a few minutes with nothing counted.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders shortly before each prayer and before a deed's window closes. These are generated on your device. No notification data leaves your phone.

The leaderboard — المتنافسون

The app has an optional board where people who log their deeds can see where their day, week and month stand among everyone else. It is off until you join, and it is anonymous.

What our server stores when you join:

What other participants see: ranks and points only. No names, no identifiers, nothing that could single you out.

Where it is held: on Supabase (https://supabase.com/privacy), a hosting provider, in the United States, sent over encrypted connections.

How long: until you leave. An entry that has not scored for twelve months is deleted automatically.

Deleting it: Settings → المتنافسون → Leave the board and delete my data removes your identifier and every score from our server immediately. If you uninstall the app without leaving, the rows that remain cannot be linked to you and are purged by the twelve-month rule.

Purchases

The app is free and every feature is available to everyone. There is an optional monthly subscription and optional one-time gifts that support development and unlock nothing.

They are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. The app only asks the store whether an active subscription exists for this device, so it can thank you and stop asking, and keeps a count of gifts on your phone.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. The leaderboard stores no personal information about any participant.

Analytics and advertising

There are none. No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no tracking, no third-party identifiers.

Your rights

Everything on your device is yours to delete by uninstalling the app. Everything on our server can be deleted from inside the app, as described above. Because leaderboard entries carry no personal information, there is nothing we could look up, export or correct for you by name; if you have any question about your data, email us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date above will change.
